From epic fjords to custom camis

I really love how the World Cup puts the world's diverse cultures on display.

The best thing about working on the BBC Sport news desk is that you never expect what lands each day. It might be a MotoGP crash, a darts player in a bar fight, or an athlete apologising to his girlfriend in an Olympic press conference.

On a Friday in June, I was pleased to write about a work of art - and speak to its creator about his process.

David Yarrow's photograph of the Norway squad dressed as Vikings, as though prepared for battle, was an instant hit on social media. It is unique, eye-catching, and oh so Norwegian. I really love how the World Cup puts the world's diverse cultures on display. It was great to speak to Yarrow, whose photo will raise money for Norwegian charities, and the details of his process - of his relationship with Erling Haaland, of superimposing Champions League finalist Martin Odegaard, of the sourcing of costume and the perfect location - really bring the photo to life.

Probably my favourite thing about this story, though, was having the imagery of photography at my mercy, and the chance to let my own inner artist breathe with a chic little intro.
